On the December 13th-14th 2012 a year end meeting has been conducted by the board members of the United Nations Global Compact in the UN headquarters at New York, USA. DR. Martha Tilaar (Founder & Chairwoman of Martha Tilaar Group) took part in the meeting as one of the board member of UN Global Compact which consisted of 31 people.
Ban Ki-Moon, Secretary-General of the UN and as Chairman of the council mentioned that UN Global Compact has been involved directly with business communities improvements in its agenda of the global development beyond 2015.
Ban Ki-Moon also explained, in the upcoming years will be developed a new UN partnership mechanism program. Therefore it is expected that by the new mechanism will allow an increase in contribution of businessman in the UN’s priority target, including health, energy, food and nutrition, climate and water.
Global Compact is a strategic policy initiative by former UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan in 2000. It is aiming in raising business practitioners all over the continents to harmonize their strategy and operation, to go along with ten universal principles in the area of human rights labor, environmental and corruption.
