Dr. (H.C) Martha Tilaar on Golden Women by Sudigdo

Last Tuesday (22/08), Java-born painter, Sudigdo, has launched his solo exhibition in Rumah Jawa Gallery, Kemang, Jakarta. This 15th exhibition Golden Women-themed presents some works that represent Indonesia women portrait. What makes this collection more interesting is the presence of successful Indonesia women portrait, Raisis Arifin Panigoro, Kartini Basuki, and of course, Dr. (H.C) Martha Tilaar.

Sudigdo’s painting is his way to tell story about strong woman. No wonder if his Golden Women paintings contains of meaningful philosophy of women in life. Another Throne painting for example, this painting of woman sitting on a chair while step on a King chess pawn, tells a hidden power of a woman. This painting as if it tells “If I want, I can have any kind of power in this world.”

To be one of successful Indonesia women who painted in Sudigdo canvas is an honor to Dr. Martha. “I really appreciate Sudigno’s works, especially because he appreciates women through his paintings. I really thank him for include me on his Golden Women list,” she says. On this opportunity, with Raisis Arifin Panigoro and Kartini Basuki, Dr. (H.C) Martha Tilaar feels honored to cut the ribbon as the sign that Sudigdo exhibition is officially begin, from 21-31 August, 2017.
